Las Vegas is definitely in my top 3 picks to visit when travelling to the US!

Why, well it’s different, unique, fun, non stop, a laugh, party town, family experiences, big, loud, extravagant, value and the list goes on. It’s got everything covered and don’t forget, just a short trip away is the Grand Canyon (Would you believe we haven’t been there yet! Too busy enjoying Vegas!). We’ve been there on 4 sepersate occasions. The first time we went was for 3 nights, 4 days and it wasn’t near enough time especially for a first visit. We did a lot but hardly scratched the surface so my first tip is spend a week if you can.

My ‘Free’ must do’s when travelling to Vegas

  • Bellagio fountains and light show at the Bellagio Hotel. A great show! Tip, get in early and get a good posy (position). It gets pretty packed.
  • The Fremont experience also known as the ‘old strip’. It has a huge show that is beamed above you head, the atmosphere and setup is different to the new strip but a great experience.
  • Big Elvis at Harrahs – He’s a really big fella! If your an Elvis fan, this guy sounds incredible
  • Visit the world famous ‘Pawn Stars shop‘ and see if you can catch Big Hoss, Chumlee, Rick or the Old Man
  • Get some photos at the ‘Welcome to Las Vegas sign’
  • Check out all the hotels. You can spend hours walking around each one. There is so much to see and do in each of the hotels and there is always something going on.
  • Walk around the markets. A great night destination. There’s plenty of knickknacks, food and entertainment

My must do’s

  • Go to a show. Either grab a last minute deal when you’re there, or book ahead. I’ve come across a great website that has everything you need to find a show when you are visiting Las Vegas. Las Vegas Shows. We’ve seen the Blue Men Group (Twice), Bill Cosby, V-The Ultimate Variety Show and a couple of other which has slipped my mind. We enjoyed every show!
  • Cruise the strip in a convertible. A unique experience and a lot of fun
  • Ride the coaster at New York New York Coaster
  • Visit the Coyote Ugly Bar. Great for a drink, dance and to get some snaps with the Coyote girls
  • I didn’t think it would be that much fun but we ended up having a ball going to The Gun Store Las Vegas. We, there were 4 of us adults, were able to experience using different firearms and aim at targets. You had someone there all the time with you, teaching you how to correctly use it. It’s not for everyone and I didn’t think it would be for me, but it was a great experience.
  • If you can leave the kids and fancy a boogie, the Las Vegas night life is incredible. We went to the Marquee Nightclub and it was an unbelievable night. It was something out of a movie. There are plenty of other venues but that’s the one we went to. We had people approach us on the street and sold us tickets. We were a little worried as they had to SMS you the invite. They did and we were in the VIP line. Gives you quicker entry and the girls had free drinks for an hour.
  • Get to the Premium outlets. There is one in the South which is mainly indoors and then there’s the North which is outdoors. I prefer the North but you’ll find heaps of bargains at both. An absolute must do and be prepared to spend some money!
  • Experience a touch of Paris by going up a replica of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Las Vegas. Great views, great value at $19 a ticket for the evening session and if you go during the day, it’s only $14. Bring a camera and enjoy the views. Definitely worth the money!
  • Circus Circus hotel adventure dome is a great place to take the kids. It’s a little older and a little further out but there is plenty for the kids to do with an all day pass only $29.95.
  • Have a punt at any of the casinos in Vegas. After all, that’s what Las Vegas was built on. I personally have only ever put one coin in a slot machine and that was in the airport on a flight out. I had to at least have one go at it! Remember to play for fun and if you win, it’s a bonus!

The above is stuff we’ve done and i reckon we’d be lucky if we’d seen a quarter of everything there is to see in Vegas. My last bit of advice is try and stay on or very near the strip and If possible, get a room with a kitchen as you’ll save quite a bit of money eating in, even if it’s 3 or 4 meals, it all adds up. There’s a supermarket not far from the strip. We love staying at the Marriott Grand Chateau (We are Marriott Vacation Club owners). A great resort style hotel just a stroll to the strip which has guest rooms to a 3 bedroom villa. If you need a car, do anything that needs it at the start or at the end. When you’re in Vegas, there’s plenty of cheap transport or you can walk to most of the main attractions.

Vegas is an awesome place, enjoy and have fun!
